Crowdfunding plays a significant role in tabletop gaming, as it is the driving force behind the creation of many games. There are numerous platforms, including Kickstarter, Gamefound, Backerkit, and more. These platforms help bring plenty of different ideas to life, but crowdfunding has been a staple for a lot of publishers over time to make sure that they don't overprint the game, don't lose money on the game, or simply know there is interest from the general community to play their game.
Let's get to the nitty-gritty, though, and talk about two games that are expected to hit the crowdfunding market in July!
Kickstarter
The Isle of Penguins
Type of Game: Open Drafting, Pattern Building, Contract fulfillment
Number of Players: 1-4
Age: 8+
Time to Play: 60-90 mins
Designer: Frank West
Artist: Dragolisco, Frank West
Publisher: The City of Games

Are you familiar with Isle of Cats? Check out the sequel to that with the welcoming game of penguin placement and open drafting. There are three modes to try out with family, advanced and expert that allow players of all level of experience to enjoy this new version of the classic tile placement game.
As someone who loves penguins and enjoys that they are the first exhibit at the local zoo, I've given this a hard thought at adding it to my collection and backing the game even though tile placement isn't my favorite game mechanism. I'm a sucker for Penguins and Otters, so it's always tempting whenever I see a game with those themes!
It fits what you need in your collection, so check out the campaign live on Kickstarter here!
Parks Europe
Type of Game: Contracts, End Game Bonuses, Worker Placement, and more
Number of Players: 1-5
Age: 10+
Time to Play: 30-70 Mins
Designer: Henry Audubon
Artist: Carlotta Notaro
Publisher: Keymaster Games

Another game that builds off a previous version, Parks, is Parks Europe, where every trail leads to new marvels. There are three rounds that you will challenge your hiking skills in new ways to see who can collect the most points and see who had the greatest experience visiting the various beauties that Europe has to offer.
I've only played the first version of this series once, but it is very beginner-friendly for players and appeals to the explorer in the family who enjoys animals, exploration, different environments, and traveling in general.
There is some time to think about whether this is a fit for your group or family, but it is a game that I highly recommend you consider adding.

Gamefound
Wreck
Type of Game: Area Control, Action Drafting, Battle
Number of Players: 2-4
Age: 14+
Time to Play: 60 mins
Designer: Manny Trembley
Artist: Manny Trembley
Publisher: Chip Theory Games

We heard that you wanted more sequels to games, right?? This is one I discovered while seeing if there were any games that stood out to me as recommendations from Gamefound this month, and it was a pleasant surprise as I backed the first game in this series, Wroth. I ended up getting the metal troops with the first version and absolutely love the game. There are some very strong abilities, but those are equal among all players in their own form.
Wreck is a follow-up of Wroth, with its area control and dice selection mechanics dominating the game and how passive or aggressive the player can be.
The great news with Wreck is that all the factions will be backwards compatible, as well as the factions in Wroth being compatible with Wreck. I personally can't wait to see more about this game and what the new factions will bring to the world. I've followed it as it appears to be set to launch on July 14th!
If you enjoyed the first game, Wroth, this may be one you need in your collection, so follow the campaign on Gamefound here!
