The Comic Picks

12-FOOT SKELETON #1

IGNITION PRESS $4.99

(W) Tim Seeley, Aaron Campbell (A/C/CA)Ben Templesmith

FROM THE SOLICIT:

This might be Lola and Jimmy’s last Halloween. Not because they’re aging out at 12-years-old...there's a 12-foot-tall lawn skeleton on a rampage in their neighborhood!

Lola is a triple threat of social suicide: goth girl, new kid, and outspoken feminist. Meanwhile, Jimmy is a bookish, quiet, bullied kid trying to enjoy his favorite holiday between cancer treatments.

When Lola discovers she might have a much stronger connection with the malevolent force inhabiting the skeleton than she could ever imagine possible, it's up to Jimmy to inspire them to face certain danger and embrace the future rather than run from their traumatic pasts.

Aaron Campbell (Hellblazer), Tim Seeley (Inglorious X-Force), and Ben Templesmith (30 Days of Night) present a Halloween story with the heart and soul of a classic Spielberg film alongside all the spills, chills, and horrifying thrills of everyone’s favorite 1980s slasher movies!

HAMMER HEAD #1

MAD CAVE STUDIOS $4.99

(W) Ed Brisson (A/CA) Damian Couceiro

From the Solicits:

TERROR CAN'T BE CONTAINED! For 20 years, Jules has been hiding from her past. As the only survivor of the Hammer Head killing-spree, she carries the guilt and trauma of having watched as everyone she loved was brutally murdered. Every couple of years, Hammer Head rises from the dead to continue his reign of terror anew, and with each repeated massacre, Jules falls deeper into the warm embrace of her own dark coping mechanisms. When she's thrown into prison with no trial and no hope, Jules finds herself part of a dark ritual built to force her back into the past that she's spent her life trying to escape. Co-creators, writer Ed Brisson (Predator, Old Man Logan, Ghost Rider) and artist Damian Couceiro (Wolverine & Kitty Pryde, X-Force, Old Man Logan) team up once again to bring you the ultimate horror throwback.

LILITH #1

VAULT COMICS $3.99

(W/A/CA) Corin Howell

From the Solicits:

Everyone's favorite man-eating demon is back! Lilith by Corin Howell returns! Penny’s bookstore is still a mess after the monster attack. Much to Lilith’s dismay, Michael proposes a great idea: Why not make a sexy calendar to raise funds to pay for the shop repairs? Meanwhile, Lilith and Penny start making good progress on translating the book that could help Lilith get back home. But what will Penelope think if she learns Lilith’s true motive—and true nature? Seems like Lilith is bound to find out when a sinister and sexy pair from her past emerges at a burlesque show.

The Collections Picks

Nightmare Library, Book 1: Welcome to the Nightmare Library

Tokyo Pop $12.99

From the Solicits:

With fun, spooky art, this book is a richly illustrated collection of spooky tales wrapped up in a framing story told in the second person, transporting the reader into the book’s creepy world.

This delightfully spooky book takes readers into a hidden library where the skeletal Concierge guides you through stack after stack of books that are literal nightmares. The library’s staff of Ghostwriters turn children’s bad dreams into stories, and everyone who receives a special invitation can come and read one story a night... But who knows what chilling fate awaits at the end of your own story?

Touched by a Demon

Dark Horse Comics $9.99

(W/A/CA) Kristeb Gudsnuk

From the Solicits:

A graphic novel from Kristen Gudsnuk, creator of the critically acclaimed Henchgirl!

Touched by a Demon is like Touched by an Angel if it were a very dark comedy where instead of inspirational stories about helping people in need, it’s about ruining people’s lives—albeit with the best of intentions.

Dissatisfied with tormenting souls in Hell and longing for the halcyon days when he lived in Heaven, a low-level demon named Bifrons attempts to earn redemption by opening a life coach agency in the mortal realm. With the aid of his assistant Zuzu and a damned soul by the name of Elaine, Bifrons is determined to help humans save their souls in the hopes that maybe with enough good deeds, God in his heavenly mercy will give him a second chance…but can an entity of evil really change its nature?

Collects Touched by a Demon #1-#4 .

Dark and Twisted: Dead Flowers TP

STORM KING COMICS $22.99 (sorry, I went over $3)
