Pocket Watch Press is excited to announce the launch of their bold new comic book collection on Kickstarter!

Created and written Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz (AREA 51: THE HELIX PROJECT), with art by a collective of global artists, including: Samuel Iwunze, the Troféu HQ Mix award-winning Marcio Luis Freire, Steph C, Ryan Best and letters by Jerome Gagnon and Micah Myers. (2023).

Presented by Pocket Watch Press is the first installation of an annual series of original collected comics short stories wherein each book maintains a loose theme associated with a time of day. The first of which, being the end of the old day & the birth of the new... Midnight. Inspired by the notion that on the precipice of two days, what matters most is the perspective that you choose to carry with you. Silent late-night clairvoyance or a war with the voices in your head: equally probable at the threshold of a new day.

This first 64-page book collects 4 sequential short stories of varying genres, all of which revolve around perspective—or a lack thereof. Despite sharing a writer, each story features a new art team and tells stories unlike one another. A drug-induced Murder Mystery, a Sci-Fi drama, a Historical Fantasy, a Psychological Drama, a supernatural coming-of-age story, and a dystopian Sci-Fi piece together this first feature, and we couldn't be more excited to bring a SEVENTH project to Kickstarter after successfully funding and fulfilling all six issues to AREA 51: THE HELIX PROJECT!

Here’s the exclusive reveal for the first two covers here on Comic Book Yeti!

Minutes to Midnight had us asking questions and needing MORE almost immediately. Trevor is going to be A FORCE IN COMICS, and we’re here for it!” —Matt & Lauren (Hops Geek News)

After reading this comic, all I’ve got to say is that you indie creators need to step up your game. These motherf*ckers are blowing you out of the water. —Bryan Buendia (Comic Breakdown)

Trevor has a Passion (with a capital P) for creating comics and it shows in every aspect of what he creates.“ … “This book looks SO GOOD…it’s like nothing else I’ve ever seen. —Jimmy Gaspero (Comic Book Yeti)

This is easily the most ambitious thing I’ve ever done,” said Trevor Fernandes-Lenkiewicz (He/Him). “The most disappointing thing about growing up is realizing that everything your parents said about being an adult is a lie. They’ll tell you how ‘adults behave’, but the older you get, you understand that they’re characterizing an ideal. Growing up in the internet age and spending my early twenties in the pandemic, I’ve come to recognize a lack of perspective and the over-institution of echo chambers. To say the least: it’s troubling. MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT was born of my need to explore perspective—or a lack thereof—leading to the rise and fall of humanity. These characters all must learn to change and reassess the way they see themselves and the world around them, which is something that I feel most adults should do. Otherwise, they will lose themselves to the pitch black abyss between days as time passes them by.

A taste of what you’ll find inside…

A grim & moody mystery from the creative team of AREA 51: THE HELIX PROJECT featuring Carlos Mancebo, a grizzled detective, as he investigates a string of suicides linked to addresses from a stretch of properties involved in a failed eminent domain seizure attempt. His discoveries & drug ladden flashbacks lead him into the gullet of a SAW-like murder case that…puts his long dead, drug-addled marriage into question? Carlos’ story spirals into a sharp-edged story of perception, control, and addiction.

The only story presently planned for syndication throughout the next several short story collections is a Supernatural Coming-of-age tale of the empathic boy who turns others’ woes into Gold. Young Midas must learn to find balance in a life where a simple touch could mean healing someone’s mind at the cost of his own. This first story finds him entangled in a childhood conflict that forces him to face down the moral pendulum, and leads him to making an acquaintance with a familiar figure to any longtime comic book fan. A meta-textual exploration of self-sacrifice & self-preservation.

A Dante-esque historical fantasy following two nearly immortal soldiers as they reconvene throughout every great battle in human history to settle a conflict that which spans from a time before time to the end of all existence as we know it. This is a timeless tale about the changing landscape of war, conditioned adversity, and of course, that we will never have enough time.
