An exclusive look at A WONDER BOOK from BEEHIVE BOOKS

A Wonder Book is joining Beehive Books' Illuminated Editions series of oversized, slipcase art book reinventions of classic literary works, and we have a chance to learn more about it before it goes live on Kickstarter. Das Pastoras (Wolverine: Revolver, Thor: God of Thunder) re-envisions Nathaniel Hawthorne's A Wonder Book for Girls and Boys, a collection of adaptations of Greek and Roman myths. Pastoras’ work for A Wonder Book will be printed using 'Victorian flourish of tipped-in illustration plates', enabling a different paper stock to be used for reproducing his paintings. Original essays by Guillermo Del Toro, José Villarrubia, and Kate Bernheimer will also be featured.

Guillermo del Toro writes in his introduction to this volume: "To me, the great illustrators have the power to co-author and re-define a tale…The mood, tone, and feeling of that tale coalesce around the illustrations and engrave themselves in our minds.

STANDARD EDITION $100.00

The standard edition is an oversized 9" x 12" hardcover, cloth-bound in sewn signatures and housed in an elaborately embossed and debossed die-cut slipcase, silk-screened and foil-stamped with artwork.

The interior is printed on creamy, acid-free heavy-weight 140gsm uncoated paper with a fine tooth and includes dozens of color illustrations, illuminated letters, and special design pieces.

NUMBERED EDITION $250.00

The numbered edition is a cloth-wrapped slipcase volume, featuring a foil-blocked fine art print exclusive to the WONDER BOOK special editions and a 1.25" die-struck enamel pin. It is signed and numbered by illustrator Das Pastoras in an edition of 250.

It also features foiled fore-edge printing on the page ends, a bound-in silk ribbon, and a natural-fiber cotton cloth slipcase. Collectors will also be granted DRM-free digital editions of EVERY title in the Illuminated Editions line in perpetuity and be thanked in all print and digital editions of A WONDER BOOK.

LETTERED EDITION $1700.00

This most exclusive edition is housed in a cloth clamshell case with two laser-cut metal plates mounted onto its French door-style enclosure. Each comes with an original drawing by Das Pastoras, plus all the elements of the numbered edition. This edition is limited to a series of 26 copies, each lettered in a series from A to Z.

All limited editions come with exclusive foil-blocked A4-sized prints on fine-tooth, uncoated heavyweight paper featuring one of Das Pastoras's illustrations, and an enamel pin.
