The Comic Picks under $5
THE DARKNESS #3 IMAGE/TOP COW $3.99
(W) Marc Silvestri (A/CA) Raymond Gay, Arif Prianto
I had a chance to review Issues 1 and 2 of this series. It was intriguing enough to want to check out more.
From the Solicits:
Now that he understands the nature and power of the Darkness, Jackie Estacado only has one thing on his mind: revenge. And while there's little the Russian mob can do to stop the blood and destruction that's coming, there are other powers in the world, and Jackie may have overstepped his bounds. Plus, meet Jenny's new bodyguards—the Brotherhood of the Darkness!

END OF LIFE #1 DC/VERTIGO (YES, THAT VERTIGO, ITS BACK!) $3.99
(W) Kyle Starks (A) Steve Pugh (CA) Gerald Parel
I'm curious to see how this one is handled. I know Kyle Stark is well know for humor in his books but these doesn't feel like the typical Kyle Starks book. I'm confident it'll be great. I've got no doubt that Steve Pugh will make a great looking book.
From the Solicits:
KYLE STARKS AND STEVE PUGH TAKE ON A HITMAN IN TROUBLE! Professional hitman Eddie Stallion has messed up. He’s accidentally robbed the Raven, a high-ranking boss of the international cabal of assassins the Menagerie, of which Eddie is a member...or he was. Now with a price on his head, Eddie chooses to hide in the one place everyone knows he’d never go...the small midwestern town of Pluto, home of his estranged father and known hard-ass George Stallion. Looking for safe harbor, Eddie instead finds his resentful father dying of cancer, old friends looking to collect that bounty, Menagerie assassins who have wandered into town, a cancelled newspaper comic-strip creator turned local crime lord, and oh yeah, his childhood first love, too. Kyle Starks and Steve Pugh, the team behind Peacemaker Tries Hard!, present the story of a man-child assassin with some very grown-up problems. As Eddie grows more attached to the people of Pluto, he’ll have to step in to solve those problems the only way a hitman knows how!

MEGA MAN X #1 (OF 5) UDON $4.99
(W) Daniel Arseneault (A/CA) Hanzo Steinbach
X Gon' Give It To Ya-DMX, at least in my mind this was the X he was talking about.
From the Solicits:
Mega Man X kicks into high gear in his own comic series! A whole new generation of super fighting robots face-off against the backdrop of a techno-future. In this issue, X and Zero track down the Prince of the Skies -- the noble and deadly Storm Eagle!

The Collections Picks under $20
SPAWN BLACK RITUAL THE BOOK OF NYX TP - IMAGE $16.99
(W) Thomas Healy (A/CA) Nat Jones
A mystical Spawn universe sounds interesting. I consider the mainline Spawn book more supernatural than mystical.
From the Solicits:
NYX has played a multifaceted role in Al Simmons' life, acting as both adversary and savior. She was the first She-Spawn and journeyed with Spawn into the bowels of hell itself. Then she rescued Wanda and Cyan from the clutches of the demon lord, Mammon. Then one day, she simply walked away and disappeared.
SPAWN artist Nat Jones teams up with writer and SPAWN Editor-in-Chief Thomas Healy to delve into Nyx's untold stories, exploring the consequences of her past as she seeks to aid the hidden Covens of New York City.Â
Additional features include a cover gallery and behind-the-scenes artwork.
Collects Black Ritual Issues #1-7.

TAMIA AND THE MEMORIES OF THE DRAGON VOL 1 PAPERCUTZ $12.99 TP, $17.99 HC
(W) David Braña (A/CA) Pahito
Every book that Papercutz puts out just looks so dang interesting and this is no exception.
From the Solicits:
Little Tamia and her father must overcome a difficult time in their lives. To do so, they decide to spend their summer vacation in Damar, a beautiful town with delicious pastries, mysterious shopkeepers and no technology. On their first night, Tamia is awakened by a weird noise. A dragon, Sosoot, has broken in, seeking... something? But is Sosoot a dream? Or is he a new friend? Adventure awaits as Tamia and Sosoot seek something lost and learn about the world--and themselves--in the process!

TIN CAN SOCIETY $19.99
(W) Peter Warren (A/CA) Francesco Mobili
Nine issues for $20 is a deal that you can't beat and from the Giant Generator imprint? You know its good.
From the Solicits:
THE TIN CAN SOCIETY is a heartfelt and human look at the evolution of friendships across a lifetime, at disability and ableism, and the destructive power of fame.
The first graphic novel of a brand-new miniseries from Giant Generator showcasing the first comics work by screenwriter and incredible talent PETER WARREN (The Incal feature film, Kill Me) with jaw-dropping art by FRANCESCO MOBILI (X-Men, Scumbag) and beautifully colored by CHRIS CHUCKRY (New X-Men, Gen 13).
Johnny Moore is a world-famous tech mogul known as much for his work pioneering mobility aids for people with disabilities (like himself) as he is for moonlighting as the metal-suited vigilante, CALIBURN. But when Johnny is found murdered and his suit stolen, his estranged childhood best friends reunite to solve the mystery of his murder.
Collects issues #1-9.
