WHAT WOULD I BUY? - RECOMMENDATIONS FOR NEW COMICS THE WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 17th

ree

Comic Book Yeti Contributor Luis Godoy II drops his recommendations for the budget-conscious comics consumer for this week.

FLOPPIES - under $5

It's a good week for comics (isn’t it always). An 8th?! Printing of Absolute Batman #1, a glow-in-the-dark one for #12, and multiple printings for multiple issues of the Absolute Line. That’s insane but awesome for comics. There are also reprints of Transformers #1 with the transformation sounds built into the comic for $19.99 each. Yes, the Transformers comics will make the transformation sound, how cool is that?. My picks of the week are:

Buried Long, Long Ago #5

Mad Cave $4.99

(W) Anthony Cleveland (A/CA) Alex Cormack

I can’t wait to read how this ends.

From the Solicits:

With the poison for their mother prepared, Ryelyn and Haddy set out to bring an end to Belle’s murder farm - and put Candle Eyes back into the dirt - for good. Buried Long, Long Ago concludes in this apocalyptic final issue.

Ghost Pepper #2

Image $3.99

(W) Ludo Lullabi (A) Ludo Lullabi, Adriano Lucas (CA) Ludo Lullabi

This is a favorite series of mine for 2025

From the Solicits:

Loloi and her new allies are being hunted by the most dangerous forces in the world—and that’s only the beginning...

On the road, Loloi and her new allies hit their first major obstacle…and this is just the appetizer

Captain Planet and the Planeteers #5

Dynamite $4.99

(W) David Pepose (A) Eman Casallos (CA) Chad Hardin

Based on the Cover, Captain Pollution is showing up

From the Solicits:

Captain Pollution has seized the day, and things are looking deadly for both the Planeteers and the planet itself! Now, the team must come together one last time and find the strength to summon their most powerful ally for a final showdown against the corrupting force of Lucian Plunder!

GRAPHIC NOVELS - under $20

Assorted Crisis Events TP Vol 1

Image $16.99

(W) Deniz Camp (A/CA) Eric Zawadzki

I’ve heard nothing but good things about this series. Its time to jump in.

From the Solicits:

An action-packed sci-fi anthology series following normal people navigating an alternate world where time is having a crisis, and just stepping outside your door can send you on an unexpected adventure.

Time is having a crisis.

Mingling in the red-light district, you can find actual cavemen, medieval knights, and cyborg soldiers on leave from World War IV. Victorian debutantes amble their way into cell phone stores, confused and bewildered (what is a data plan?). On their way to work, bleary-eyed commuters get trapped in time-loops, assaulted by alternate-reality versions of themselves, and try to avoid post-apocalyptic wastelands. And LOOK: the 3:15 bus just took a wrong turn…into the neolithic era.

Boxed TP

Mad Cave $19.99

(W) Mark Sable (A/CA) Jeremy Haun

From the Solicits:

In the near future, the first superintelligent A.l. went rogue and massacred the world's best computer scientists. Since then it has been R.A.I.D. special agent Frank Savage's job to contain – or "box" – sentient A.I. before they can become a threat to humanity. When Hippocrates, the Center for Disease Control's A.I., exceeds its programming and locks down hundreds of thousands of people, Frank is forced to turn to Pandora – an A.I. he once boxed – to contain it. The problem? Pandora is a "honeypot" A.I. designed to seduce and destroy its targets... and Frank's ex-girlfriend.
