SPELUNKING THE SOLICITS OCTOBER 2025

Another month...another comic catalog...another chance to win some of you over with our impeccable taste in comics. Pack your bags, tie onto our line, light your headlamps and come cave diving with us as we do our best to find the most exciting titles being offered in your local comic shops. We hope these will excite you enough to search out further books being offered and most of all encourage you to consider pre-ordering.

You see, the reader can pop into any shop and pick up a comic book, no fuss no muss, but for maximum impact of the series health and for the benefit of the creators, pre-ordering the books would be the best. To best help creators, we will bring to you our individual top 5--top 10-- NO, our TOP 7 list of favorite announced books for the month. In hopes you too will join us in pre-ordering from your Local Comic Shop! (LCS)

Things are a little disjointed in comics ordering right now. There are two places one can order from: Lunar or Random Penguin. We include the catalog and the order codes to help you out. If any of these catches your fancy take the codes to your LCS and they will make sure you get set up!

LUIS' PICKS

December is a fun month for comics, especially if there are 5 weeks like this December is. As always I’ve got a variety of picks in this month’s Top 7. I have picks from Dynamite, Image, Mad Cave Studios and Vault Comics. There’s space-cats, space vigilantes, supernatural forces, horror twisted Christmas, race cars and talking axes, talk about variety and something for everyone.    1. Holiday one-shots like these are always fun, they remind me of those fun filler episodes that don’t really move the plot forward but are always entertaining.

      

2. Space Ghost #6 (Dynamite) $4.99 ORDER CODE: 1025DE0628

   1. Space Ghost continues to move at a breakneck pace with this month’s offering containing Space Vampires.

      

3. The Darkness #1 (Image) $4.99 ORDER CODE: 1026IM0237

   1. I was never into the original run of The Darkness as I was not reading comics when it first came out but I’ve always been intrigued and this is as good a time as any to jump in especially with Marc Silvestri returning to helm this reboot.

      

4. Startling Tales of Santa Claus 2025 Annual (Image) $9.99 ORDER CODE: 1025IM0263

   1. Like Holiday one-shots such as my first pick, twists on holidays are great reads. I’m excited for this one.

      

5. Ghost Pepper #6 (Image) $3.99 ORDER CODE: 1025IM0362

   1. Ghost Pepper has all the stuff I love, great art, a character with a mystery background and food trucks, and now a new storyline is starting.

      

6. Speed Racer #5 (Mad Cave) $4.99 ORDER CODE: 1025MA0785

   1. Speed got a uniform for his race with the C.A.T. team while dealing with Racer X. Sounds exciting.

   

7. Barbaric The Long Death #1 (Vault) $6.99 ORDER CODE: 1025VL1054

   1. I just love this series, I just have a hard time figuring out which I have and which I don’t. I’m ecstatic to jump back into this world.

      

DOUG'S PICKS

The indignity of being last every month is nearly over! My contract has been found and with my pending lawsuit, I soon will be the consortium owner of this website! And no one can stop me! Muhahahaha

1. Wrestle Heist #1 (Image) $3.99 ORDER CODE: 1025IM0282

   a. Kyle Starks is shooting to the top of my list of all-time favorite comic creators. He just so happens to pick topics that I am in big into right now, heists and pro-wrestling! I don't usually pick variants, but Jesse Lonergan always gets my money.

   

   
   

2. Our Soot Stained Heart #1 (Mad Cave) $5.99 ORDER CODE: 1025MA0774

   a. Two of my favorite comics people have teamed up for what surely will be a devastating yarn about a steampunk world and Santa Claus. My face will be pre-teared as I venture into this series. I expect this to make writer Joni Hagg very in demand.

   

3. The Demon of Beausoleil GN (Oni Press) $24.99 ORDER CODE: Unable to locate

   a. A story about a half demon exorcist really intrigued me and the art looks incredible.

   

4. Giant Size Criminal #1 (Image) $5.99 ORDER CODE: 1025IM0248

   a. I had just started rereading Criminal, so this new series announcement is perfectly timed for me! Ready for this new book and new tv series to debut.

   

5. Inferno Girl Red-Book 2 #1 (Image) $4.99 ORDER CODE: 1025IM0260

   a. I enjoyed the first book of this series and I hope the creative team gets more space to tell more story.

   

6. Groupies GN (Mad Cave) $19.99 ORDER CODE: 1025MA0762

   a. A dark story of a dream scenario going awry is the perfect set up for this graphic novel. I have enjoyed previous works for Hellen Mullane and Tula Lotay, so definitely intrigued in how they blend together for this comic.

   

7. The New Space Age #1 (Mad Cave) $4.99 ORDER CODE: 1025MA0770

   a. I have followed Mike Becker's work on social media for a long time, so was definitely pumped to see he had a new project coming out. A space epic seems like the perfect story to dive into this winter!
