Crowdfunding is a large part of tabletop gaming and the nature of how some of these games actually come to life! There are plenty of platforms such as Kickstarter, Gamefound, Backerkit, and many more. These platforms help bring plenty of different ideas to life, but crowdfunding has been a staple for a lot of publishers over time to make sure that they don't overprint the game, don't lose money on the game, or simply know there is interest by the general community to play their game.
Let's get to the nitty-gritty, though, and talk about four games that are expected to hit the crowdfunding market in January!
Kickstarter
Chicken Fried Dice

Type of Game: Dice Rolling, End of Game Bonuses, Set Collection
Number of Players:Â 1-5
Age: 10+
Time to Play: 30-45 mins
Designer: Ashwin Kamath and Rob Newton
Artist: Rob Newton and Meimo Siwapon
Publisher: Urban Professional Games
Chicken Fried Dice is a thematic dice rolling game where chicken chefs compete to be the best at a Free-Range Food Truck Festival! This is truly a thematic game if you are looking for one.
This game was available to demo at PAX Unplugged back in November and looked phenomenal. Sure, there are plenty of different games out there that check the box in so many areas, but this one has everything you want, including:
Amazing components that fit the theme
Artwork to love
A game that doesn't overstay its welcome at the table
It fits what you need in your collection, so check out the campaign that is to launch soon on Kickstarter here!
Slay The Spire: The Board Game - Downfall

Type of Game: Adventure, expansion, card game, fantasy, and fighting
Number of Players:Â 1-4
Age: 12+
Time to Play: 30-150 mins (base game time)
Publisher: Contention Games
Have you explored the board game version of the modern classic board game Slay the Spire: The Board Game yet? If you haven't, you have been missing out! The expansion to the 2024 release is set to build off the greatness that has already put the base game up to #25 all-time on Board Game Geek.
This expansion is set to allow you to move from being a protector to a slayer! You'll now be able to take on the roles of the Slime Boss, Guardian, Hexaghost, and Hermit to defeat Neow.
If you already own the base game, this is most likely a must-have to give you more possibilities for what is already there!

Gamefound

Invincible: Aftermath - Season 2
Type of Game: Cooperative, Deck/Bag/Pool Building, Hand Management
Number of Players:Â 1-4
Age: 14+
Time to Play: 60 mins
Designer: Sydney Engelstein, Nick Little, Kevin Riley, Derrick Vo
Publisher: Indie Boards & Cards, Skybound Tabletop
The second season is coming to Invincible: the Card Game and it is one that you won't want to miss! It is a standalone sequel to the first box of Invincible: the Card Game that allows you to further your journey of being young superheroes from the show as they defend the Earth.
The unique aspect of this latest addition is that you can not only combine this box with the first Invincible game, but also with Astro Knights!
I've played the big box version of the game and highly recommend this as a simple deck builder for any gamer's collection.
Get notified on launch on Gamefound once this campaign goes live here!
