Sneak Peeks & Stretch Goals: December Crowdfunding Projects to Get Excited About

Crowdfunding is a large part of tabletop gaming and the nature of how some of these games actually come to life! There are plenty of platforms such as Kickstarter, Gamefound, Backerkit, and many more. These platforms help bring plenty of different ideas to life, but crowdfunding has been a staple for a lot of publishers over time to make sure that they don't overprint the game, don't lose money on the game, or simply know there is interest by the general community to play their game.

These posts will become monthly to hopefully help make you aware of some tabletop games that could be valuable to add to your collection! Now beware: there are plenty of risks in every crowdfunded game. There could be any of the following:

  • Delays could occur, causing the delay of the game you backed to come to fruition

  • Unexpected financial concerns could come up on the designers' or publishers' side(Looking at you, tariffs)

  • Play adjustments could come into play as the game comes to life with playtesting or simple finds in the rulebook

Don't let that scare you away, though, as a large majority of games are delivered after they are successfully funded.

Let's get to the nitty-gritty, though, and talk about four games that are expected to hit the crowdfunding market in December!

Kickstarter

Everdell Emerland

ree

Type of Game: Set collection, Worker placement, Open drafting

Number of Players: 1-4

Age: 10+

Time to Play: 30 min/player

Designer: James A. Wilson and Clarissa A. Wilson

Thought you were done with the Everdell universe of games? You thought wrong! This version of Everdell brings the phenomenal art of Mr. Cuddington to the game, where you are going to help cute critters build out their jungle city.

You will hunt for hidden treasures in the eye-catching 3D ruins brought to life by Everdell Emerland.

Let's be honest, there are an endless number of hits within this series of games, Everdell has brought to the tabletop community, and this one is sure to be one as well! The latest version of the series, Everdell Silverfrost, has recently been fulfilled to its backers as of mid-November, so this is a sure hit to hit your table once this is fulfilled! And this will surely be funded within minutes!

I've played Everdell a handful of times myself, and this is bound to be a frequent flyer in your house with this latest version of Everdell, so don't miss it!

52 Duels is a 1-2 player print-at-home dueling game set in the fantasy world of 52 Realms: Adventures. This version of 52 Realms allows you to use only a standard poker deck that will launch attacks, deal damage, use items, and level up your hero's unique skills! Your end goal is to empty the opponent's deck first while avoiding the tricks that your opponent may present to you!

Let's be honest: Postmark Games has had so many successes with Voyages, Waypoints, Aquamarine, and Koala Rescue Club, just to name a few! This short game is bound to hit your table for those of you who love a good duel or even a solo challenge against the bot!

I've personally enjoyed Voyages and Waypoints, and this will be on my radar when it launches soon!

Heropolis will bring your table to life between the standees and the simple table presence that there is with the game itself! Now there isn't a whole lot of information available for Heropolis, but the presence the game brings along with the adventure the game takes you on has roped me in to wanting to know more about what this game entails.

There isn't a whole lot of information out regarding what this standalone sequel to Dragon Eclipse brings, but Awaken Realms has a track record over the years with Castles of Burgundy: Special Edition, Grimcoven, and Nemesis, just to name a few of the successes for them! The predecessor, Dragon Eclipse, has an 8.4 rating on BGG and was a success that is only going to lead to a larger following with the sequel!
