Welcome back to the second ever Cruisin' Crowdfunding. I am once again, Doug Wood, bringing you exciting comics I find on crowdfunding platforms! If you have some extra cash that week and want to support some creators, this will be a great way to help make comics a reality for a lot of newer or even experienced pros right now.
Additionally, I will be shouting out comics that are in the pre-launch phase on their platforms. Pre-launch is a huge period for creators. Not only does it show initial interest in the campaign, but it also allows the crowdfunding platform to identify campaigns that they will want to spotlight come time for launch. That is huge for campaigns as the algorithms can make it hard to find fresh books. If you have any interest in a book, please consider clicking to be notified of launch. Even if you don't have money at the time of launch, it helps enormously!
Exciting Comics I Found

This week I lead off with a comic creator I am learning of for the first time and just have to put in front of your eyeballs. Ho-Seh Esquivel is currently running Shao-Lucha #3. An engaging wrestling story with some clean energetic art. The first 2 offerings are available on Global Comix for free, so plenty to work with if you want to see if this comic is for you.

This campaign has been flying under so many radars and I hope this book can find an audience. As I always say, comics and wrestling are a peanut butter and jelly combination. It just makes so much sense. At time of publishing there is only 20 days to see get this to its goal.

Sometimes you find new campaigns scrolling through the platform's page and sometimes you'll see another creator posting about a comic they have found that excites them. Star Wielder #1 by Jay Hero, was not on my radar, but I am so glad I came across that Bluesky post. This gorgeous comic is exactly the story I am looking for right now.

This campaign could really use a boost. If you need a story to boost you out of feelings of fear, powerlessness or injustice, this will be your guiding light. If you have spare funds this month please consider getting yourself a copy.

At the time I was writing this, Starward Lovers, had yet to reach it's goal, but as I grew closer to to my publish date the campaign has shot right past. That is the power this tokusatsu inspired romance story is bringing. First time campaigner Miki Brewster has an excellent command of the comics page.

Originally published on Tumblr, this is another comic you can view and get an impression if you want to help the creator fund a print version. In this case, the print version will be a 232 page trade paperback. With its goal met if you back there shouldn't be too long a wait between it being sent to the printer and you having it in your hands!

You ever re-read a comic solicted plot and not totally understand what is meant to be happening but the art speaks to you. Total Recall of the Heart is that for me. I am sure you, the smart reader, will go to this page and know exactly what the story is. But for me there is a level of complexion I am not fully grasping. Fear not, there is a bevy of credible creators singing this comics praises and you know this book is going to rule. This is a very Vertigo feeling comic. (Complementary)

At the time of writing, this campaign is on the cusp of hitting its goal. Consider helping creators Phoebe Hedges and Lizzie Style fund their first ever Kickstarter!
COMICS THAT ARE COMING SOON!

When I first came back to comics, one of the things I was excited for the most was Mike Norton and Tim Seeley doing a superhero Double Feature comic. So when Dauntless Stories slid across my timeline with their YA Double Feature comic, I was pumped. First up is Kaiju Fist, a blast of an action comic that would fit nicely within the pages of Shonen Jump and We Belong To The Thunder, a very different take on the Romeo & Juliet formula.

Sometimes the thumbnail image is all that is needed to get you stop and click on the campaign. Madius Comics immediately grabbed my attention with theirs. They will be seeking to fund for the collected edition of their comic Griff Gristle. Not much in the way of story is mentioned in their teaser but they are labeling it Crusty Fisher Punk.

Sometimes the image grabs you and sometimes all it takes is the title of the comic. Anti-Cryptid Club just speaks to me on such a fun level I cannot truly express my feelings. First time campaigners Scott Devantier & Ella Hackett are pitching this as Scooby Doo meets Napoleon Dynamite.

I have to disclaim my fandom/creative journey, as I got into comics creation through the old Comix Tribe's forums. At the time Comix Tribe was putting out electric and intriguing comics by new faces to the comics game. Happy to see they found their feet on in the Kickstarter market. Sink has been a long running series and this new Halloween Special will continue the top notch horror the comic is know for.

Silent comics have a long and lauded tradition in the industry. With creator Dan Membiela I think La Hermana has every chance to be as moving and powerful as any other silent comic. Dan has been posting previews as he has working on this book and all have been completely enticing.
