A new twelve-issue series that will expand the ongoing Masters of the Universe comic run will be dropping this Summer from Dark Horse Comics and Mattel. Rich Douek (Batman: The Brave and The Bold, MAGIC: The GATHERING War of Fate) is joined by illustrator Gavin Smith (Star Trek: The Mirror War, TMNT), colorist Fabi Marques (Marvel Rivals Unleashed Infinity, Doctor Strange) & letterer AndWorld Design (Girl over Paris, Forager) to cover the first three-issue arc that kicks off with the origins of Skeletor and the history of Eternia through his eyes.
Future arcs will feature stories by Cavan Scott, Nick Roche, John Harris Dunning, Giovanna La Pietra, Tiffany Smith, and more!

We were lucky enough at the Yeti cave to get a direct quote from Rich Douek about his thoughts on Masters of the Universe: Genesis and diving into Skeletor's history!
I remember dragging my mom to the toy store to get a He-Man action figure- but when we got there, I took one look at that creepy skull face and knew that Skeletor was the one I had to have. Plus, my best friend already had He-Man - it all worked out, and we fought some epic battles over the power swords.
So it’s with great pleasure that I’m getting the chance to tell this chapter of Skeletor’s story with my good friends Gavin Smith, Fabi Marques, and the fine folks at Andworld Design. For this book, we’re delving into Skeletor’s history with the horde, how he first came to Eternia, and the motives behind his quest to dominate Greyskull - and the universe!
I’ve had so much fun writing this book - from including fan- and personal favorite characters to just cutting loose with Skeletor’s patented brand of grandiose ranting. I think longtime Masters of the Universe fans and newcomers are both going to find a lot to love here - and the book is just getting started!
Issue #1 will be available wherever comic books are sold on August 5, 2026 for $4.99.
