2000 AD Prog 2471
Release date: February 25, 2026
Cover Artist: Cliff Robinson
A maximum voltage cover from Cliff Robinson to kick off the new Judge Dredd story arc! Giambattista Vico, an 18th century sociologist, theorized that with each flash of lightning man relives their primitive terror of divine power. Dredd at least appears to be somewhat concerned!

JUDGE DREDD // CLIMATE CRISIS - PART ONE
Writer: Rob Williams & Ned Hartley
Artist: PJ Holden
Colorist: Jack Davies
Letterer: Annie Parkhouse
I’m a pre-established PJ Holden fan, from his and John Reppion’s Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, and so it is a nice treat to see his take on Old Stoney Face! I like the switch to a looser, more indie comix feel. A nice benefit of the anthology format is the ability to keep things fresh like this.
The idea of Mega-City One’s authoritarian control extending even to the weather is a great conceit, but of course entropy requires no maintenance, and the inevitable loss of this particular lever of power creates uniquely devastating problems. (Having just dug out of nearly two feet of snow this morning, I have a renewed respect for the power of weather!)
Facechange is a wonderfully pulpy villain for this tale, who would comfortably fit in any number of rogues galleries. Does Dredd have a rogues gallery? I suspect his conflict resolutions are typically more final.
Alfons Pond-Pond-Rickenbacker III’s feeble command, “you will respect my net worth!” stands out as my favorite moment, being simultaneously absurd and yet far too true to life!

HERNE & SHUCK // POWER TRIP - PART NINE
Writer: David Barnett
Artist: Lee Milmore
Colorist: Gary Caldwell
Letterer: Annie Parkhouse
Absolutely marvelous setup & punchline here! King Arthur as a trickster God returning in the hour of England’s greatest need is such great modern mythmaking.
It appears there’s even more to Alex Ramsey-Hall than it first appeared, and there was already plenty!
This unbroken tradition, dating back over a thousand years, of traveling bards elaborating the latest and greatest embellishments of Arthurian adventures continues in style.

JUDGE DEE // PART FIVE
Writer: Ben Wheatley
Artist: Simon Coleby
Colorist: Jack Davies
Letterer: Simon Bowland
A rapturous cliff hanger with triple agents telling half truths to double agents or maybe it’s the other way around! Paranoid psychics engaged in demonic spy games as a techno-occult ritual burns out the bound souls of our heroes and unleashes bloody hell on the masses!

TERROR TALES // FOUNTAIN OF YOUTH
Writer: Andi Ewington
Artist: Mike Walters
Letterer: Rob Steen
Outstanding cyclical short story, with a new take on a timeless premise, featuring great greyscale art by Mike Walters.
Great reminder to be careful what you wish for! All those hours and days wished away for some imagined future that turned out to be precious and golden in retrospect.

THE DISCARDED // PART NINE
Writer: Peter Milligan
Artist: Kieran McKeown
Colorist: Jim Boswell
Letterer: Simon Bowland
Our dangling plot threads are being pulled taut with the inevitable father / daughter confrontation coming closer and closer. I love the idea that both the revolutionary father and cop daughter are of the same character just shaped by different circumstances into opposing forces.
The art team continues to excel, and given their crystal clear storytelling, I’m glad we never got to see the gut choir!
